Warranty guide · Updated September 23, 2026 A roofing warranty can cover manufacturing defects, installation errors, or both. Those protections have different terms. Before choosing a roof, ask which warranty will be registered, which products qualify, and which owner and building rules apply. This guide explains GAF’s current residential shingle warranty terms checked on September 23, 2026. Your existing roof remains subject to the warranty issued for its installation. This comparison does not upgrade an older warranty or replace its legal terms. Manufacturing-defect coverage concerns defects in covered roofing products. Workmanship coverage concerns covered installation errors, which GAF calls misapplication. A separate contractor workmanship promise is not the same as GAF-backed workmanship coverage. For qualifying single-family detached homes owned by individuals, the enhanced warranties below provide lifetime limited manufacturing-defect coverage with a 50-year non-prorated period. Non-prorated means the initial period before covered benefits are reduced for use. It does not remove exclusions or guarantee payment for every roof problem. Other owner and building types have different terms. Do not apply this residential table to a commercial or multifamily roof. The applicable legal warranty controls coverage, exclusions, remedies, and transfer rights. The current Golden Pledge Limited Warranty continues limited workmanship coverage after its initial 25- or 30-year non-prorated period. The shingle product determines which period applies. This is different from describing 25 years as the entire current workmanship term. The coverage is limited. Benefits reduce after the applicable non-prorated period. It is not unlimited full repair reimbursement for life. Eligibility includes installation by a GAF Master Elite contractor, qualifying roofing products, registration, and payment requirements. Ridgeline is a GAF Master Elite contractor. We can discuss Golden Pledge on qualifying roof systems and identify the proposed warranty in your estimate. Do not assume that every GAF roof automatically qualifies or that a contractor award alone registers the warranty. Silver Pledge adds GAF-backed workmanship coverage. It is not lifetime workmanship coverage. Timberline NS, HDZ, and HDZ RS have a 10-year term. Timberline UHDZ, AS II, and qualifying Designer shingles have a 15-year term under the current sample. GAF Certified Plus and Master Elite contractors can offer Silver Pledge on eligible systems. Check the exact product and registration requirements before comparing estimates. System Plus does not add GAF workmanship coverage. For qualifying individual-owned detached homes, it provides lifetime limited manufacturing-defect coverage with a 50-year non-prorated period. Any separate Ridgeline workmanship promise must be identified independently in your written agreement. The current System Plus legal sample allows one transfer. The new owner must notify GAF within one year. Coverage differs when the transfer occurs after the first 20 years. The sample also requires registration and instructs registration within 45 days. Read the issued document before a sale or claim. GAF’s current comparison includes a President’s Club Limited Warranty. For qualifying Timberline UHDZ, AS II, and Designer installations, it provides lifetime limited workmanship with 40 non-prorated years. This warranty requires a current 3-Star President’s Club Award Winning Master Elite contractor. A general President’s Club award does not establish that qualification. Ask your contractor to confirm current three-star qualification and the exact warranty available for your installation. WindProven is a separate conditional limited warranty. It is not a promise that a roof will withstand every storm. Ask which shingle and accessory combination qualifies and review the applicable terms. Do not treat WindProven as an additional workmanship tier. Keep your estimate, invoice, registration confirmation, issued warranty, and maintenance records together. If a problem develops, use the claim instructions in the issued warranty. Tell the contractor and manufacturer what happened, retain supporting documentation, and ask before making changes that could affect coverage. Do not assume it does. Your roof is covered by the warranty issued for its installation. Current comparison information does not replace that document. Contact GAF for questions about an existing warranty. No. The current term is 25 years for Timberline HDZ and HDZ RS, and 30 years for Timberline UHDZ, AS II, and qualifying Designer shingles. Eligibility and the issued warranty still apply. System Plus does not add GAF workmanship coverage. Silver Pledge and Golden Pledge provide distinct GAF workmanship coverage on eligible installations. Transfer conditions depend on the warranty and timing. A transfer is not unrestricted or automatic. Read your issued document and meet its notification requirements. For current System Plus, the sample permits one transfer and requires notice within one year. GAF-backed workmanship coverage under Silver Pledge or Golden Pledge is distinct from a contractor-only guarantee. Follow the applicable warranty’s claim procedures. Coverage remains subject to its terms and exclusions. Checked September 23, 2026.
