Ridgeline Construction is Your Roofing Resource
How often does my roof need to be replaced?
On average, a roof should be replaced every 20 years. This could be less or more, depending on the weather where you live, the manufacturer or brand of the roof materials, and if the roof was installed properly.
What types of materials are the best for a roof?
The best roofing material will vary based on climate and the type of building, but the most popular choice is asphalt shingles. Their lifespan ranges from 20 to 40 years, and they are easier to install and often have great warranty options.
While it’s a more expensive option, for some structures, metal may be preferable because of its longer lifespan and durability.
Concrete has the advantage of being very strong and able to withstand heavy wind and rain that could damage other materials.
Can I install a roof myself?
Roofing is not a DIY project. It can be dangerous and is hard work that needs a professional trained on how to install a roof safely and properly to ensure your building is protected for years to come. There’s a lot more to roofing than just laying down shingles or a piece of metal. Ridgeline Construction Roofing & Exteriors is a licensed and insured contractor with years of experience in the roofing construction industry. We also hold elite certifications with multiple manufacturers of roofing materials. Learn more about our qualifications here.
When is it better to get a roof replaced instead of merely repaired?
Significant wind or hail damage can be a sign that a roof needs to be replaced. If there’s a lot of granules that have been lost, that shows the age of the roof. If shingles are torn or starting to fall apart, this also indicates a replacement is needed.
You can choose a roofing company that offers free estimates, like Ridgeline Construction Roofing & Exteriors, to get an idea of whether a full replacement is needed or not.
If a few shingles are lifted, in some cases, a simple repair will do, but it’s worth getting a free inspection to make sure there’s not a bigger issue.
How much does a new roof cost?
It’s hard to give an average cost of a roof replacement as there are many factors that determine this. It could range from $5,000 to $100,000. The cost is dependent on the size of the roof, how many facets or sections it has, the pitch of the roof, the type of materials used, and the manufacturer of the materials. There are several different types of roofs that all have different cost ranges, including metal, slate, asphalt, wood, etc.
How long does it take to install a roof?
Again, this varies on the type and size of the roof, as well as the materials used. A smaller roof without many facets can be replaced within a day, while a larger roof might take longer. Your Ridgeline Construction Roofing & Exteriors project manager will be able to walk you through the timeline for installing your new roof.
Are the water spots on my ceiling caused by a plumbing or roofing issue?
Water spots on your ceiling are commonly the result of a roofing issue. However, they could also be caused by an HVAC or plumbing failure. Your project manager will be able to examine your roof and attic to determine the cause of these water stains on your ceiling. It is important to not ignore the problem, because the underlying issue could worsen over time and lead to further damage.
